    Bohea Souchong Longan EXLUSIVE

    180,00 kr

    50 g

an exclusive black tea from its premier origin, Tongmuguan village in the Bohea mountains

It is one of our best sellers!

Bohea Souchong (“Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong” in Chinese) is produced exclusively from its origin, the Tongmuguan village locating at the north end of the Bohea mountains. “Souchong” the English word comes from the indigenous dialect ”xiao zhong小种”, which means “small-leaf species “Camellia Sinensis tea plant unique in the region.

Our selection Bohea Souchong Longan black tea is a Chinese government’s protected “Origin of Production” product, also certificated by OCIA of the USA, and BCS of Germany, and JONA of Japan.

The tea is well-known for its pine-smoke aroma. The characteristic is achieved by a special fermentation process, which is combining smoke from the local pine trees into its oxidization procedures. More distinguishedly, the complex process results in a smooth and mellow flavour called “Longan” style. Longan is a sub-tropical fruit, adored by the natives for its delicious taste and nutritious benefits. The Longan soup tastes similar to the tea flavour. It explains why this black tea is named Bohea Souchong Longan. It is the integration of microclimate, environment and Tongmuguan village tea farmers wisdom that gives rise to this world-class black tea.

    Tips: Longan or Lapsang?

Bohea Souchong has two styles classified by its flavours, Longan and Lapsang. Longan is the original style; Lapsang style was created two centuries later for export purpose. The Chinese mostly know and appreciate Longan flavour while the western world knows almost only about Lapsang.

    100,00 kr

    100 g

The name tells its origin (Enshi) and quality (hairy needle, i.e. the spring tea buds).

Enshi Hairy Needle is made from early spring tea buds, carefully processed with traditional 25 procedures! The tea appears neat, lively dark brown. Steeping in water for just 1 minute, the tea gives a transparent golden color with a delightful fruity aroma. A pure white jade porcelain Gaiwan might be the best to prepare this black tea considering its appealing color for our eyes. New! Guanyin King

    165,00 kr

    50 g

    spring best season harvest, 2022

(It is one of our best sellers! Find out more in our “Special Offer“!)

Guanyin King is the high point of Oolong beauty. Oolong tea has more than 70 varieties, mostly named according to their own peculiar features. “Tie Guan Yin” in Chinese means “Iron Goddess – as heavy as iron in quality and as fine as Goddess in fragrance and taste, and Guanyin King is the top quality.

The hometown of Oolong tea is Anxi county of Fujian, southeast of China. The subtropical mountain area has a mild, warm, and foggy climate with plenty of rain and sunshine; its deep, brown soil contains rich organic mineral components. Anxi has a long tea production history dating back to the 7th century Tang dynasty.

Our selection is made from top leaves hand-plucked in spring. The tea is mid-level fermented according to the traditional “Anxi Tie Guan Yin Processing Procedures”. Our selection has one special point, it goes through a careful roasting process on a charcoal fire.

The tea appears like tiny pearls curled up in a spiral. Notice the color: lively, full-bodied green, dotted with oily-brown nuances (from the stems and edges of the leaves).  It is a beginning step to gain confidence in its quality.

Tasting Guanyin King is an enjoyable treat for all of our senses! The tasting can be done conveniently by a fine, preferably white porcelain Gaiwan, 2 g for 100 ml water, 90 °C. Infuse 6-7 seconds, take up the lid and smell the inner side of the lid – a fresh fruity aroma all around the nose……. Take a look at the tea, wow! the pearls open in the full bloom of green vigor and health. The zig-zag edge of the leaves shines light brown, a trace of mild charcoal fire roasting effects.

An ancient Chinese poet praises Guanyin King Oolong tea: “though its taste has not yet met my tongue, its fragrance has already embraced my nose”. The tea tastes silky smooth, nutty, and really refreshing. It has a long-lasting, juicy sweet-bitterness in the aftertaste.

Tips: at an afternoon tea, Guanyin King pairs best with chewy and crispy dessert, such as meringue cake.

    half price! Huangshan Hairy Needles

    75,00 kr

    50 g

spring buds before April 10, 2021

“Beautiful mountains cultivate excellent tea.” Exactly as the Chinese say, the scenic Huangshan Mountains in Anhui create Huangshan Hairy Needles (or named word for word after the Mandarin: Huangshan Mao Feng).

Mount. Huangshan is well known for its “Four Wonders”: Huangshan Pines, oddly shaped rocks, hotsprings and the Sea of Clouds. The spectacular nature inspires generations of artist creation. “Huangshan School of Painting” originates here. It is one of the representative styles of Chinese landscape painting. The Ming Dynasty traveler and geographer Xu Xiake (1586-1641) left us with his admiration:

    Returning from Wuyue*,
    No need to see other mountains;
    Returning from Huangshan,
    No need to see Wuyue.

(*Wuyue is the Chinese term for the “Five Sacred Mountains”)

The green tea grows on steep slopes 1200 meters above sea level in the mountains. The microclimate is ideal for the tea plantation: short sunshine, plentiful rainfall, high humidity, and rich soil. What is more, numerous varieties of wildflowers flourish among the tea plants. The flowers bloom in spring when the green tea spring buds are also mature for harvest, which enriches the green tea with a special floral fragrance.

Our selection Huangshan Hairy Needles is hand-plucked in early April in compliance with the quality standard of “one bud two leaves”. The fresh tea buds are coated with hairs and their needle-shaped ends are like the lofty peaks on the mountain. It is the early spring tea buds that determine a green tea quality! The tea tastes refreshing, slightly bitter, with a sweetness in its aftertaste.
